  • Find Product Code: Every product has a specific Indian Standard set by BIS. First, you need to identify the correct product code that will apply to your product.
  • Product Testing: The product for which the ISI license is required, needs to be tested in any BIS-approved laboratory as per the guidelines by the Indian government. The test request must be generated by the Manak online portal by a BIS-recognised lab for the designed standards.
  • Application filling: Once the lab uploads the test reports on the Manak Online Portal, the applicant can fill out the application form based on the test report. It is mandatory to upload all required documents as specified by BIS. After submitting the documents and details online, the applicant must pay the required fees to complete the submission.
  • Department Scrutiny And Inspection: After submission, BIS officials review the application, verify the documents, and check the authenticity of the uploaded test report along with the test results. BIS may also conduct an on-site factory inspection to ensure compliance.
  • Grant license: Once the BIS inspection officer is satisfied with the inspection and test results, they submit their report for final approval. After the certification is granted, the manufacturer can use the ISI mark on the approved product. To maintain the certification, manufacturers must pay the necessary fees for renewal in subsequent years.
